Men’s Tennis signs prep standout Sachdev

A native of North Carolina and one of the top prep players in the country, Rahul Sachdev will join the Longhorns’ roster for the fall.

Austin – University of Texas Men's Tennis has signed prep standout Rahul Sachdev to a National Letter of Intent (NLI), head coach Bruce Berque announced Wednesday. Sachdev will join the program this fall.

"We are very excited that Rahul will be joining our team this coming fall," Berque said. "He fit in with our players very naturally on his visit, and it was clear that he shares their passion for the game. Rahul will be a terrific addition, and we are looking forward to doing everything in our power to help him reach his academic and tennis goals."

"I'm super excited to join the Texas family and the great culture that Coach Berque, Coach Wagner and the whole team have created," Sachdev said. "Texas is clearly a championship caliber program, and I can't wait to join my brothers, do my part to contribute and continue to develop on and off the court."

A native of Cary, N.C., Sachdev is the top-ranked player in the state of North Carolina and has been rated as high as No. 13 nationally by TennisRecruiting.net. Through his juniors career, he earned a No. 1 USTA ranking in North Carolina in every age division from 12s-18s.

Recently, Sachdev reached the singles quarterfinals of the ITF J4 in Lexington, S.C. He also advanced to the Boys 16U doubles round of 16 at the 2021 Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships by topping the No. 2 seed. He additionally was a champion of the USTA National Level 2 tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn., the Level 3 tournament in Peachtree City, Ga., and the Level 4 tournaments in Peachtree Corners, Ga., and Cary, N.C. In 2020, he was both a singles and a doubles finalist at the 2020 USTA Southern Closed Championships.

Sachdev is completing his coursework at Laurel Springs School where he is ranked number one in his class.
